A message for Earth Hour 2017: Eskom must lift brakes on renewable energy
Project 90 by 2030 has always been a supporter of WWF’s Earth hour campaign. We encourage this global citizen movement of positive change for the environment.
“We can all switch off the power for one hour – from 8.30pm on Saturday, as a symbolic gesture of unity to reflect on our impact on the planet. We can also use this action to kick start some new habits and take charge of the daily decisions that we make that impact our environment,” says the organization’s Daniel Robinson.
These decisions are not limited to our energy use but also around our food and water choices. The power really is in our hands.
So let’s make a switch, create better habits, to be more informed, and to consume more responsibly. Decisions and actions we take today have a fundamental impact on both our individual and collective futures. WWF reminded us a few years ago that “there is no Planet B”!
“This year you can take your Earth Hour action a little further and sign the WWF petition and use your power in calling Eskom to lift the brakes on renewable energy so that SA can transition towards lower carbon emissions,” says Robinson.
